Elements of Grace
Faith and Love Beyond the Battlefield
The gift of God’s grace — blessings He has offered us that we don’t deserve — is intertwined with faith in Him. Similar to how air, earth, fire, and water are considered basic elements for life, the many blessings His grace bestows upon His followers include:
- The ability to trust in His faithfulness even in turbulent times – inspired by air in “Windblown”
- A sure identity rooted in our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ – grounded in earth from “Grounded”
- Passion for serving others -ignited by fire in “Ablaze”
- Love that can’t be contained – overflowing like water in “Brimming”
It is God’s grace that equips us to accomplish His good work in this world.
These themes are some of the elements of grace that our characters will explore as they transition from military careers to civilian life.

Windblown
BOOK I: JAKE
Truth, Terror, and An Unexpected Alliance
Ten years after the US Embassy bombings in Africa, Marine SSG Jake Richards is on a mission to eliminate the mastermind behind the string of terrorist attacks on America. Cassie Wright needs to learn the truth connecting her dad with those attacks. As a new terrorist plot arises, Jake and Cassie must work together to defeat it, or they could lose everything, including their own lives.
Author's Inspiration
Watching the struggles of friends and family members as they transitioned from military life to civilian life created a desire to reach out to others who might be doing the same. This is the first in a series of four books that will follow the members of a fictitious Special Ops team as they make that transition.
Also recognizing a nearly universal desire to make a difference, I want to encourage readers to actively pursue practical ways that they can use their abilities to benefit others locally or around the world. You don’t have to be a hero to make a difference.

“Windblown is a compelling read, one of those books where once the reader starts the first line, the entire book must be read. The writing makes the reader believe the author is well experienced and knowledgeable regarding the spy and international intrigue business. The story she spins brings the reader to accept the plot as real in the crazy world of our time.
Long an admirer of A.K. Coulter’s writing, I have been a cheerleader for her publishing this, her first book.”

“A.K. Coulter is a yarn-spinning wizard. In Windblown, Ms. Coulter has combined a fast-paced action plot with a feel-good romance plus a message of faith in a loving God. All this, wrapped up in a dangerous East African setting. These elements flow into each other seamlessly and make for a hugely satisfying read. Ms. Coulter makes us see, feel, and smell the atmosphere of Africa as she places us amid the suspense and terror of war.”

"Windblown will thrill anyone looking for adventure in a story that is fast paced, filled with intrigue, suspense, and romance, with an ending that surprises and satisfies.
The fact that this story is based on real events that took place at two U.S. embassies overseas some years ago captivated me. The author has done a phenomenal job weaving a tale through terrorist attacks and schemes, while involving the reader in the personal lives of Jake and Cassie. It is as challenging for ex-military man, Jake to find the terrorists as it is for Cassie to unravel the mystery surrounding her father’s death. The tale took me from my U.S. home to remote regions of eastern Africa as the places and people became vivid and real to me. A bonus was the ending which delivers both reassurance and hope to the reader."

"A storm is brewing, and you will be drawn into Windblown before you know what’s happened to you. As you cycle into the eye, you get caught in the intrigue of political backlash, military ops, and the story of a woman seeking the truth about her father’s death.
A.K. Coulter has pieced together a novel that will keep you invested until the last page. Endless research into military tactics and cultural differences pays off with suspense, turmoil, and an emotionally charged race to the end."

"Having read as much as I have, I'm rarely surprised by a plot twist any more, but the one in Windblown stopped me and left me saying, "Wait. What?!" Admirable writing, good story flow, and obvious research. Enjoy!"

"Windblown is an incredible introduction for A.K. Coulter into the publishing world. Action-packed and heart-thumping, with a full-circle arc, Coulter provides a gripping tale taken straight off the pages of today’s headlines. A story of overcoming betrayal and bitterness, the search for truth, and a journey to find faith in humanity, self, and God, Windblown will take readers to the edge of their seats waiting for the gripping resolution. Fans of “The Shepherds Series” by Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson, author James R. Hannibal, and Steven James’ “Travis Brock” series will love Windblown."

"Windblown is a book that will engage you right from the beginning as the fight against evil intensifies page by page. While enjoying the suspense and romance, readers will relate to the characters' spiritual struggles and growth."

"Be prepared for Windblown to whisk you away in a well-crafted tale turbulent with terrorist plots, duplicitous characters, and dangerous liaisons. Yet, swirling throughout you'll also find a plethora of endearing individuals who embody the good—driving home themes of love, patriotism, friendship, family, and faith in God our Father, who can be trusted to lovingly lead His children.
Behind the scenes of this gripping page-turner is the mysterious professor who sits just outside of the storm, illuminating and elucidating action as it unfolds.
You won't regret time spent with Jake and Cassie, watching them grow closer to God and each other as they are swept along by the storm too big for them to handle on their own."
